Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis for therapeutic reasons.
Hypnosis is state of enhanced focus and relaxation in which the client and the therapist can work together to facilitate changes and significantly improved the chances of achieving a predetermined desired outcome.
Hypnosis is a very subjective experience.
Contrary to popular belief hypnosis is not a sleep state, in fact it's a state of focused attention and deep relaxation.
To some people it may feel like listening to a story, to others it would be very similar to meditation and mindfulness, to others it'd feel like dreaming.
With enough imagination and intent, you can make it feel what you want it to feel.
No,you will retain control.
You will do what you are already subconsciously willing to do, if you won't to do something out of hypnosis, you won't do it in hypnosis. (Besides there is no therapeutic benefit in turning people into chickens 🐔)
Think of it as driving with the sat nav on, you can follow instructions if you like but the sat nav won't take the wheel.
All the suggestions I will make will be ethical, professional and therapeutic, with you best interest in mind.
How much you will remember after the hypnosis session will depend on you, it's like remembering a dream or a film, often you will remember most of it, sometimes you will only remember some parts.
In my opinion there is no benefit in forgetting, even when it's about painful memories, because by gaining insight or reframing a memory or situation you can learn how to use those experiences as leverage or propellent, adding value to you story. What can be done though, is to change the way you feel about something whic I can definitely help you with!
No, you can't get stuck in hypnosis, although at times you may find it so good that you will want to stay in it for a little bit longer.
Don't worry though, usually the idea of getting charged extra time will wake you right up and make you achieve your goals even faster! 🤣
Counselling is a great talking therapy in which the client talks and the therapist listens and helps the client reorganising thoughts and process emotions without giving personal opinions and solutions.
This can be the greatest kind of therapy for someone who only needs a safe, judgement free place to talk things through.
Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a fantastic therapeutic and or coaching method that uses personal development, communication and psychotherapy approaches in a solution focused manner.
It helps you moving on from difficulties, breaking down larger goals into smaller manageable steps and conversely it can help you see the bigger picture when needed.
It is also a fantastic tool to improve communication with yourself (thought patterns and self talk) and others, improving personal, romantic and professional relationships.
